Blood Orange was recorded in Ben Rawlin’s former studio in August 2019. Knowing the arrangement of the song well before going into studio, the rhythm section was recorded in 10 minutes before moving on to the next song. There was lots more to be done with the song following, recording or designing parts in lots of different places, from at home in his old practice room to Kaph on drury st while waiting for a friend, from Zaska’s home studio to a play at the fringe festival recording an actor spontaneously drag metal pipes across a concrete floor.
Nnic once again lends her vocals to the track giving a counterpart to J Smith in the chorus, which speaks of a couple deciding to continue their love and reigniting their passion for one another.
