about

I went upstairs learning my brother had broken up with his girlfriend. He was looking out the window as the rain poured and I wasn't sure what I could say to him.

Recorded in one take, in one room, with three great friends and players and 8 mics between us. It was a magic song to track and just felt so good throughout.

lyrics

The rain sounds like a pounding chest

It’s beating on my window where my thoughts collect

We used to wish that we could

Could see the stars

But the lamplight haze meant that it was never dark

I know that I love her

You know that I love her

She knows that I love her

But she needs time to love herself

I need to take time rearrange my head

Our closet looks so empty with just your city simple dress

Did I say all I wanted to did she see me cry

Did I make the most out of having you and our last goodbye

I know that I love her

You know that I love her

She knows that I love her

But she needs time to love herself

If we’re all meant to die alone, why must I live without

Love may be the only heaven that we’re allowed

I know that you love me

I know that you love me

I know that you love me

Can’t you be mine and love yourself?

Learning piano from the age of 5, music became an essential part of James' life and it only expanded when finding the guitar and other instruments. With music being a medium in which James could process tragedy or moments of elation, it became an integral part of his life.

Baby Farm is out now, the crops are ready for harvest and the livestock are screaming.
