about

My wife was studying abroad, and each time she'd leave I'd end up spending days at the piano in my mothers house waiting for her to return.

This song was recorded twice before we got the perfect third take. Ben Rawlins came to me with an idea and organised a meet up with John Rousseau-Parlane who scored out a brass quartet. It was a beautiful moment to hear them play over the song and brought it and the record to places I would never have imagined.

lyrics

There’s noone at home

Stayin’ in mom’s ‘til Sunday morn’ and

Suit and tie for mass then rush to be there when she lands

There’s noone at home

I’m just going through the motions

If I’m crippled missing you it proves my love is true

I’ve done my best to try and not rely on you

But when you’re gone love songs are all I’m writing for you

I’ve done my best to plan for when you’d go

I’m scared I need you cause losing’s all I know

There’s noone at home

Just a pillow marked by one

Wonder if you dream the same if you’ve not me to hold

I’ve done my best to try and not rely on you

But when you’re gone, love songs are all I’m writing for you

I’ve done my best to plan for when you’d go

I’m scared I need you cause losing’s all I know

Oh babe losing’s all I know

Oh babe losing’s all I know

Oh babe losing’s all I know

Oh babe losing’s all I know

Learning piano from the age of 5, music became an essential part of James' life and it only expanded when finding the guitar and other instruments. With music being a medium in which James could process tragedy or moments of elation, it became an integral part of his life.

Baby Farm is out now, the crops are ready for harvest and the livestock are screaming.
